About Sit and Go Poker Tournaments
Sit and go tournaments is one of the many different competitions that are held over the world by poker lovers. It is in these competitions where the best poker players are playing against each other for not just a prize but for the knowledge that they beat the best!
Sit and go tournaments are a specific poker tournament. This means that the players wanting to partake in the competition must be enrolled at the beginning of the competition. The competition is always a schedules event and begins at the exact time allotted. If you are to play then you must have enrolled before that time. To be a part of the competition you have to complete a process known as a Buy In. this process entails you to pay a specific sum of money to purchase poker chips of an equivalent amount. These chips are not actual cash but more like tokens. These tokens are what are bet in the game. But at the end of the game the chips you have won can be exchanged for the money they are worth. Because this is a specific competition all players are given the same sum of money to begin with. This ensures that all players start on a level playing field.
Once all the buy ins are complete and the game is to begin the players are divided into groups of 10 or 12 players (or less if there are fewer players). There can be anywhere between 2 to 180 players that take part in this competition. Every group has to have equal players. Once the groups are made, each group is assigned a table to start the game. Once the game begins the players must use their skill and expertise to win at their respective tables. This type of tournament is a Knock-out tournament where players that lose all their chips at any point of the game are eliminated and the table begins to shrink as it loses its players. In a situation where the table begins to shrink the empty space are filled up with players who are waiting to play. In some venues, entire tables are closed and their players are re-distributed to the shrinking tables.
The object of the game is to be the last one standing. If you are the last player, you will have collected all the chips that were used by each and every player. These chips can be exchanged at the end to get the monetary value for the chips. This amount is usually equivalent to the sum of all the buy ins that occurred before the game began. At some venues the organizers exact some fee in the very beginning when the chips were bought. This means that the prize money the winner receives is a little less than the sum of all the money paid by the players. Some venues do not allow for the chips to be exchanged at the end. They have a set amount of prize money that can be won. Sometimes the last two players are given the prize money.
